DYNAMIT NOBEL DEFENCE

We focus on outperforming technologie

Dynamit Nobel Defence (DND) has its core competence in the development and production of shoulder–launched anti-armour / anti-structure weapons for urban warfare and rural operations.

The product portfolio ranges from light-weight special-forces fully-disposable weapons family RGW 60, to RGW 90 family with multiple functions integrated in one warhead, like LRMP with ranges up to 1200m and up to 600m against moving targets.

The RGW 110 combines warhead effectiveness engaging the latest MBT generation, with long range precision. All Shoulder-launched weapons are operational by only one shooter and can be fired from enclosures.

In the field of vehicle protection, DND provides state of the art Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA) technology. Through the use of lightweight materials and high-tech explosives, individualized protection solutions are available for almost every vehicle class.

DND’s low fragmentation ERA effectively defends threats without increasing collateral damage.

Beside of the delivery of complete systems, DND gets involved in partnering programs, when it comes to development and production of subcomponents as part of such systems.

Shoulder-launched weapons

At Future Forces International Exhibition 2022, Dynamit Nobel Defence will present proven and new products from the shoulder-launched, unguided infantry armament segment. We clearly see ourselves as a technology leader and innovation driver in this product area. In line with mission realities and operational and technical requirements of recent years, our focus is clearly on anti-structure and anti-tank munitions. This is where the strengths of the DND system families traditionally lie. Shoulder-launched anti-tank defence in particular is experiencing a renaissance as a result of the recent war on the European continent.

Anti-structure: The new RGW90 ASM is ready!

Our combat proven RGW90 ASM (anti-structure munition), which features a dual-mode tandem anti-structure warhead, is capable of penetrating concrete, adobe and brick structures, defeating field fortifications and bunkers, and incapacitating opponents behind them at a combat range of up to 500 meters. Light to medium vehicle armor is also within the target spectrum of this system, which gives the gunner scalability and flexibility in the mission by offering a choice of two firing modes ("blast" and "mousehole"). Due to international customer demands as well as significant advancements in our launch tube technology, the RGW90 ASM has now undergone a product upgrade, reducing its weight from the previous 10 kg to now 8.7 kg while maintaining the same warhead performance. As with our RGW90 HH, which we relaunched a few years ago as an A2 variant (lighter and more powerful), we are thus consistently pursuing our efforts to continuously improve our products along their life cycles. The weight saving of the "new" RGW90 ASM greatly improves the ergonomic properties of the product. It is available both for integration into the German “Wirkmittel 90mm family” (use in conjunction with fire control sights) and as a standard variant (use with standard optics) with immediate effect.

Anti-structure: RGW60 ASM in final qualification

A newly developed anti-structure munition has been added to the RGW60 series in recent years. This RGW60 ASM features a mono-mode tandem anti-structure warhead that, like our RGW90 ASM, is capable of penetrating concrete, adobe, and brick structures, defeating field fortifications and bunkers, and incapacitating opponents behind them. Again, light vehicle armor is also a realistic target. The main difference to the RGW90 ASM - apart from the smaller warhead caliber - lies in the somewhat shorter combat range of 300 m as well as in the absence of a second firing mode: the RGW60 ASM is designed for "blast" mode, and thus clearly for effect against enemy forces in cover. At 6.75 kg, it is the ultimate lightweight with impressive warhead performance. The system is currently undergoing final customer qualification for an international customer and can thus be considered practically ready for the market.

Anti-tank: RGW110 HH-T brings the HEAT

The RGW110 HH-T (HEAT/HESH-Tandem) is the first munition of the upcoming RGW110 series. For this basic version, the strengths of the warhead of the Panzerfaust 3-IT (which, despite its advanced product life cycle, is currently proving its combat power and destructive performance in the Ukraine war) are being adopted and transferred to the ergonomic and operating concept of the RGW series. This makes the RGW110 HH-T a veritable, direct successor to our iconic Panzerfaust, and one that is ergonomically more favorable, about 3 kg lighter, with increased combat range of up to 800 m, as well as even more accurate - with and without fire control sights. At Future Forces 2022, we will present the final design of the RGW110 HH-T, which is currently undergoing company qualification and will be ready for production in just over a year.

Explosive-based protection

In the segment of land platform and vehicle protection, Dynamit Nobel Defence has been a partner of the German and international armed forces for many years: as a supplier of explosive reactive armor, as an integrator of holistic protection concepts on land platforms, and as a technology hub for explosive-based protection technologies. DND "ERA" finds multiple applications on all types of command and combat vehicles, saving total system weight and enormously increasing the level of protection and survival of man and machine.

New developments

Our experts are currently working particularly on the extension of ERA protection for vehicle roof protection, innovative protection solutions against heavy KE threats, as well as weight optimizations that allow ERA to become an advantageous option for the protection of medium and light combat vehicles (such as armored transport vehicles). In doing so, we are able to design our ERA protection on existing platform designs as an "add-on" or, already in the development phase of new systems, to help shape the protection architecture as a center of competence for reactive protection.
